Sanctification and How To Pursue It

As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy”. 1 Peter 1:14-16

“Christians cannot afford to be confused about the doctrine of sanctification.  That is because it is where we all live.  All believers in Christ live in between the time of our past justification and our future glorification—in the present pursuit of Christlikeness.  If we desire to please the Lord in all respects, we need to be clear on how we go about growing in holiness.”

So writes pastor Michael Riccardi, author of Sanctification: The Christian Pursuit of God-Given Holiness.

God is described as “holy, holy, and holy” and believers are called to “be holy,” but what does that mean and how do we pursue sanctification?
