We live in hope

September 2, 2021, On the death of the Greek composer, a member of the wartime resistance, his concert music, including seven symphonies, four operas, ballets (including Antigone, 1959), and more than 1,000 songs, will remain deeply engraved in our hearts and echo throughout the world as a sign of the resistance that is always necessary to continue living in freedom of expression.

A few days after hearing of the death of Theodorakis.

I lived in Evia, Greece, for a short time, in a small basic house on top of another building. It was on the edge of a town made rich by the lignite factory on its outskirts.

While my little house was on the outskirts the other way, it was convenient for long walks and a semi rural outlook.

I arrived in Greece a few years after the end of the junta, about which I knew next to nothing. I was extraordinarily lucky to discover that the second floor of ‘my’ building was used by a woman who taught after school mathematics. In those days, and perhaps still, Greek children who attended school between 8.30 and 2.30 (I think) also attended frontisterio – private schools like the one I taught at and my new friend owned.

Op deze website kon u al enkele berichten lezen over een webshop die probeert plaatselijke kleine boeren en artiesten te ondersteunen met hun aan waardige prijzen goederen af te nemen en in Europa aan de man te brengen.

Pequeña Sudamérica, of “Klein Zuid-Amerika” biedt een veelvoud van producten aan op het Europese vaste land. In de toekomst zal naast de meerdere wijnen die de webshop al aan biedt ook de wijnen voorgesteld worden van de vader van de Argentijnse oprichtster van die webshop. Maar naast wijnen, bieren en andere voedingswaren zal u ook voorwerpen kunnen vinden die door de Argentijnse haar familieleden en vrienden zijn gemaakt. Die handwerkjes maken de collectie van aangeboden voorwerpen in zekere zin uniek.

Op de webshop zullen regelmatig naast aanbiedingen ook meer uitleg en recepten gegeven worden zodat u de door hun aangeboden producten beter zal leren kennen en goed kunnen gebruiken.

Ook op ondergetekende zijn blog zal u verder informatie kunnen vinden over die prachtige landen en de keuken van daar. Op het blog Pequeña Sudamérica on WordPress zal u dan ook een virtuele verrassingstoer kunnen maken en meer ditjes-en-datjes net als nieuwtjes uit die keuken kunnen vinden. On this website you could already read about a webshop that tries to support local small farmers and artists by buying their goods at decent prices and selling them in Europe.

Pequeña Sudamérica, or “Little South America” offers a variety of products on the European mainland. In the future, in addition to the multiple wines that the webshop already offers, it will also present the wines of the father of the Argentinian founder of the webshop. But apart from wines, beers and other food products, you will also be able to find items made by the Argentinian’s family members and friends. These handicrafts make the collection of offered objects unique in a way.
