Being in the month of “searching ” (Elul) and facing the transition of coming out of holiday going back into a new school- or academic year, we notice we can encounter people who come back from holiday tired, and complaining they should have some rest before going to work again. This proves that those people do not have found the right way to use their time properly , nor to create a real atmosphere to relax.
Many people may think there is not time for unwinding, but that is because they do not allow time for unwinding to come into their life.
It is true that day and night go into one another, and these days people often have to go to work when it is dark and only return when it is again dark. In the evening and at night there are also many people who have to work so that others can have the pleasure of entertainment, travelling a.o..
Working in day time or at night, should not make a difference in finding time four yourself. each person should declare each day a moment only consecrated to the self. We all need every day some time for ourself and should demand and take it up.
We all do need a moment we can forget the worries and put aside the daily matters. This can be done in different ways. Best when it is at night, to get in the sofa and let your thoughts wonder. When it is still light you should find a moment to go outdoors into the green fields,or the mountains, and enjoy the nature. Walking is the best moment to come to the self, to put the stress away, and to re-source.
At least once a week we should find total rest. And when we can we should once a year get at least one week to let the chaos pass our eyes, and be pleased to have nothing disturbing the peace unnecessary. (So please be not bounded to cellphone, sms and other electronic messages for that time of repose.) Enjoy the silence, being on your own or with those with whom you want to be with. Creolize: relax in an elegant fashion in a warm climate; undergoing a change.

- Elul Journey: A New Year Is Emerging 5775 – 23 More Days (lightwavejourney.wordpress.com)
Today is 7 Elul or 23 days until 5775; it is a time to reflect and to choose ways in which I can best move towards the High Holy Days and the days that follow. While it is not easy to navigate life’s journeys, I always get to decide how to approach my life. In this moment, I am choosing to walk gently and embrace each step with openness. As I say this, I also realize that this would be a good time for a reality check.

We balance between taking the time for multiple tries, and the knowledge that our lives are limited. Do not despair if the task is hard. Do not fail to return to it.
- Why we never really relax on holiday (iol.co.za)
If you’re going away for a few days, beware – it may not prove as relaxing as you hoped.
For the typical British adult takes four days, eight hours and 24 minutes to fully unwind on holiday, according to a study.
- Time to Unwind (thesecretlifecoachofdc.wordpress.com)
I have been spending this week unwinding and relaxing with my grandparents. Sometimes you just need to be reminded about what’s truly important in life….and the fact that you are in charge of the direction your life takes. In the meantime, I am…
- Let’s be Honest, Sometimes it’s Just too Hard to Meditate. (elephantjournal.com)
there are those folks who find it easy to be disciplined and have a steady daily meditation practice and go to three month meditation retreats every year. But there are also people who win the Olympics and we know there is no point comparing ourselves to an Olympian, so why would we compare ourselves to the few who meditation comes easily to?
Our stress hormones are being pushed to their limits, our flight and fight responses maxed out over VISA bills and Facebook accounts and our central nervous system’s fried from traffic and custody suits.
Let’s not make meditation one more stressful thing we’re supposed to do.Instead what we need to do might look like a nap, or a Netflix binge or a glass of wine. I am giving you the ultimate permission here—this is just fine.Relax, unwind, notice that being with your mind just feels too hard right now. Send yourself some love; you understand it feels rough, so remember that the meditation practice is always here.
And maybe tomorrow, or next week, or next month you’ll be ready to close your eyes and notice your breath and be with your mind.
And the compassion you bring to your mind when you’re not meditating will carry over and it will be there when you’re meditating, too.

Skip going through the motions of planning every second of your day, and try spicing up your typical weekend activities the vanilla way: Allow yourself to rest. Unplug your mind and body (and your phone!) and look to create a sanctuary of well-being wherever you are.
- Maybe I Shouldn’t Have Internet in My Home (lifeinthemarriedlane.com)
So, it’s Elul. It’s that time of year for introspection, and thoughts of self-improvement, and taking a good, hard look at what’s been working for us and what hasn’t been. Rosh Chodesh came and went, and amid the hubbub of moving and having all my kids home with me all day, I was feeling kind of “meh” about it, really. It’s not that I didn’t care, per se, about this extremely important month, I was just tired and overwhelmed, and there was no room in my head for even thinking about anything.
Relaxation is super important, and everyone really does need to unwind and recharge. Yes. Do that. But that’s not what I was doing. What I was doing was an impressive amount of time wasting. And I was embarrassed to admit it (and so grateful to my husband for not giving me a hard time about it).
- Unwind & De Stress (audria.wordpress.com)
we need to find time for ourselves, to just rejuvenate, get our juices flowing again in order to spend quality time with our families and not just going through the motion, as our families are what keep us grounded and that should be the most important.
Try not to let life “rattle” you so easily. Let’s face it, there are things we just have no control over like traffic lights, bad drivers and long checkout lines. Instead of becoming frustrated, think of something that brings joy into your life or find some humor in the situation.
give yourself a reason to laugh.

The American Academy of Pediatrics issued a policy statement Monday that supports later school starts to help tired teens. The bigger question might be, how can parents help teens manage their existing activities to get more sleep?
