Happy First Day of Spring: Spring Cleaning!

As a cheerleader (former) and mother, the WordPress Blog writer Lauren encouraged and cheered-on numerous people over the years and seems to like to bring some pep talks on the net.  She enjoys inspiring others to achieve their goals and live the life of their dreams and brings a blog as a natural extension of this, and a way for her to reach beyond her family and circle of friends.

She herself also has discovered that change can also be painful. She writes

Not only is it psychologically painful–we “give up” our comfortable routines, habits, and activities–but it can also be physically painful. {Change: It Hurts}

but in a way life is all about changes having to take place and us having to make, sometimes difficult, choices. The whispering sounds we hear in us day after day, sometimes telling about having to face a good or a bad day.

so often we want to throw in the towel and walk away when changes don’t happen quickly–especially when everything seems to be crumbling around us. {Change: Don’t Quit Before the Whistle Blows}

now with the new season announcing new life we too should try to create new life in ourselves.

In these regions where you write you from, Belgium, in our childhood, this time was taken for “Spring Cleaning“.

And why not, after the house having not aired enough and having had all the mud shoes entering the entrance of the house? Though today many who want to start start the cleanse get a gnarly headache and feel super grumpy all of a sudden.

You’re cleansing to feel better but instead you feel worse.

Hang in there. It always gets worse before it gets better.

We make changes because we want things to be better. But often things go to hell before they point heavenward.
The mistake is to quit when it gets worse.
Instead, we must remember that it’s always darkest before the dawn. The good stuff comes after the bad stuff has had time to clear the scene.
But we must give it that time and not give up.

It’s easier to do when cleaning out a closet than when overhauling a life.
But the same principle applies.

With the Spring season the better for sure must come, because we shall have more light and everything shall get fresh colours.

Blog writer Lauren urges you

to take out a pen and paper–or whatever means you use to capture your thoughts–and brainstorm things you can do during these crisis moments. They pass, I assure you these moments pass, but make it easier on yourself by having your list handy so you don’t even have to think about who to call or what to do.  Already have your thinking done in the form of this list. {Change: It Hurts}

We would add to capture your thoughts and feelings also on the little screen, by your cell phone or by your camera. Looking at something from your point you are feeling that day may give a total different perspective when you would take a picture of the same subject with an other feeling.

By allowing yourself to capture the moments you witness when you are feeling bad or good, you can allow yourself to grow and you shall be able to trust yourself more having yourself allowing to capture your mood.

In a bad mood capturing pictures they shall allow you to ‘write it off’ and instead of hanging in there and stick with it you shall be able to look at it afresh and with some new energy, coming to life again, making it easier for you to get through that uncomfortable phase.

Therefore have a look at her pictures she took the first full day of spring where she lives and was greeted with about an inch of frosting-like snow that morning.

On her way to work, she noticed the daffodils are coming up + may bloom by the end of the week => spring is here to stay!

  • this time of year  > start spring cleaning our homes + yards => should also do a spring cleaning our thoughts, attitudes, and habits.
  • cleaning out closets + getting healthy =  starting exercise routines + good eating habits
  • looking at your relationships + dropping those people that don’t make you feel good about yourself.
  • to organize! Systemize! Prioritize! Categorize!
  • keeping daily meditation practice
  • putting aside time at least once each day to do some form of meditation, prayer, contemplation, devotion, rumination => put you in touch with your true self + helps you get out of yourself, put space between you +the world, +see that there is Something Bigger Out There.

Today is the first full day of spring (it officially arrived at 12:30am yesterday).

Where I live, we were greeted with about an inch of frosting-like snow this morning but, as I look out my window now, the warm sun has melted most of it. Also, on my way to work, I noticed the daffodils are coming up and may bloom by the end of the week. I think spring is here to stay!

I was talking to a friend this morning and he reminded me that this time of year we naturally start spring cleaning our homes and yards. He said that we should also do a spring cleaning our thoughts, attitudes, and habits.

Good idea!
